What does that zoning really mean?
- RESIDENTIAL
- Residential zoning includes RR (Rural Residential), R1, R2, R3 or R4 (Urban Residential), RO (Residential Office) and VR (Village Residential, in rural areas designated as Villages).. These charts show what building types (single family houses, 6-story apartment buildings, etc) and how many dwellings per acre are allowed by that zoning. RR is least dense, R4 is densest.
- BUSINESS
- Business zoning includes B1 (serves one neighborhood), B2 (serves several neighborhoods in the community) and B3 (serves all of Harford County). This page explains what's allowed in each zoning. B3 zoning is the most intense; it allows adult book stores, adult entertainment centers, tattoo parlors, freight terminals, truck stops, etc.
- INDUSTRIAL
- Industrial zoning includes CI (Commercial Industrial), LI (Light Industrial) and GI (General Industrial). All three allow uses normally considered "industrial" but also allow other uses such as retail sales. This page provides short descriptions from the zoning code for CI, LI and GI.
- OTHER ZONING DISTRICTS
- This page has short descriptions of RO (Residential Office), VR (Village Residential), VB (Village Business), AG (AGricultural) and MO (Mixed Office).
