Listed on this web site are the general zoning classifications as published by Harford County. However, we have found that while these may be the correct legal zoning definitions, there are many more exceptions to the rule. And these exceptions are normally granted. Listed below are the residential categories, the number of permitted uses and the number of additional uses allowed with special exceptions, etc.

There are also variances which may (and often are) granted to allow additional uses in each category. It appears that over the years new legislation has expanded the usage of zoning categories to the point where they change their original intent.
